So I like automotive related !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , quizzes, and top ten lists. Since I can author as much as I please on oppo, I came up with an idea for a new survey that I'll ask periodically. It's called Hot or Not and it'll feature cars that I'm not sure whether I like 'em or not. They usually have flaws that put them on the fence between hot and not, for me anyway. You guys try to convince me one way or the other.

The first contestant is the 612 "Scag". You can already tell by its repugnant nickname that this 2+2 Ferrari isn't universally loved. They came with a v12, and 6 speed gated manual which me likey a lot. On the other hand it looks boring, especially in beige, and it's disproportionate. A fat back end for people and luggage is the antithesis to my perception of "great lines" on a car. Also can't get over the dinky cross-eyed headlights and the weird smiley front bumper. And the name brings to mind the words "scab" and "yetti". It's just not nearly as special as a Maranello a 456.

Anyway what do you guys think? On a 1-10 scale, how much do you want it? Out of all the time you spend daydreaming of 2+2 GTs, how much of that is the 612 Scaglietti?

I love the side and rear angles, but that stupid face ruins it for me.

I gave it a 9. I think it's one of the more attractive vehicles to wear the prancing horse as of late.

It's on my list of lottery purchases, one of the big reasons is because it's a Ferrari that isn't as flashy and over the top as say a 458 Italia. (which would also be on the list) You might have a decent chance of enjoying the car on a regular basis without having to spend 30 minutes answering questions and letting people take pics every time you stop for gas or whatever. I'd have it in Tour de France Blue though.

I never liked the 612, but I am one of the few who like the 550 and the 575.

I think the 456 is gorgeous, but the 612 is handsome if that makes any sense.

To each their own. The 612, to me, looks dumpy in the back and squished in the front, with squished eyes and a dopey grin, and a weird 60s Corvettey scallop down the middle. Never could find much about it that I liked.

Definitely HOT!

(I'll admit I'm probably in the minority about this.)

Modern sporty/super/hyper cars are all WAY overdone design-wise. They are all covered in scoops and vents and gills and spoilers and splitters and diffusers and flares. I find this to be such a beautifully clean, simple design that speaks more towards overall shapes and forms, and not to all the finicky little details (functional or not.)

It's also why I like the new F-type, but even that looks busy next to this elegant prancing horse.

Disclaimer: I'm generally not a Ferrari fan, but this is one of my favorites. I also like it in any color EXCEPT red.

It certainly doesn't scream for attention like a 458 or a Lambo.
